Thank you for your interest in The Prince George, a supportive
residence sponsored by Common Ground Community and The Center for Urban
Community Services (CUCS). The Prince George, located at 14 East 28th
Street in Manhattan, offers affordable housing for working professionals
and the formerly homeless, some of whom live with AIDS or mental illness.
A turn of the century historic hotel, The Prince George has recently been
rehabilitated and reopened in October 1999. It features 24-hour security,
a spacious roof terrace, on-site laundry facilities, a computer lab, an
art room and a rehearsal/practice space. Each apartment has a kitchenette
with cooking facilities and refrigerator as well as a private bath. In
addition, all units are furnished with an oak bed, table, chairs, and
dresser.
Before you apply to live at The Prince George,
please note the following requirements and procedures:
ELIGIBILITY
Income eligibility for The Prince George is based on federal guidelines
for low-income housing tax credits. An applicant's current annual
income from all sources must be at least $15,000 yet not exceed
$30,000. In addition, assets over $5,000 must be evaluated in determining
eligibility. Assets do not include personal property such as furniture,
automobiles, and clothing. If you are currently receiving a rental
subsidy (e.g. Section 8) please indicate that in the housing status
section of the application and include documentation of the subsidy
source with your application.
The Prince George is a building for single adults only.
Full-time students are not eligible for residency in the building. One
pet per tenant is permitted, if properly cared for and kept leashed in
public areas within the building.

CURRENT AVAILABILITY
At the present time there are no vacancies. Your application will be considered
in the order that it is received as vacancies arise.
THE APPLICATION PROCESS
PLEASE TYPE OR WRITE LEGIBLY. THIS APPLICATION WILL NOT BE PROCESSED IF
IT CANNOT BE READ OR IF IT IS INCOMPLETE. Please answer all the questions
on the application and include all forms. If a question or form does not
apply to you please write N/A. Applicants must include a copy of their
most recent federal tax return.
All applications are reviewed for eligibility by the
Intake Department and applicants will be notified of their status by mail.
Applicants will be asked to participate in up to three interviews when
a vacancy arises. At the time of the interviews, the Intake Department
will again review your financial, credit, housing and employment histories.
Please be aware that acceptance to The Prince George is based on all of
these criteria. A final interview may be conducted in your current residence
if deemed necessary. AT NO TIME IN THE APPLICATION PROCESS ARE YOU GUARANTEED
AN APARTMENT UNTIL YOU HAVE SIGNED A LEASE.

St in Manhattan, is a supportive residence sponsored in conjunction
with The Center for Urban Community Service. The Times Square offers
studio efficiencies for single adults with incomes between $12,000
and $28,000 as well as others with lower income, including persons
with AIDS, the elderly, and those with physical or mental disabilities.

The Aurora, located at 475 West 57th St in
Manhattan, is a supportive, shared housing residence for adults
sponsored by The Actors' Fund of America. The Aurora offers affordable
housing elder citizens, working professionals earning between $12,000
and $24,000, and persons with AIDS. Residents have their own bedroom
units and generally share a kitchen and living room with one or
two roommates. For information on how to apply to The Aurora, please
