Common Ground is one of New York’s “Best Companies to Work For”

Common Ground was recently recognized for “Excellence in Organizational Vision & Management” and named a Best Company to Work For in New York State. Sponsored by the New York State Society of Human Resources Management, this award is based on surveys of current Common Ground staff and an assessment of our organizational practices and benefits packages. Common Ground was among 24 large companies named “Best Employer” in 2012.

This is an incredible result; Common Ground was one of only three non-profits to make the top 24. Best Companies liked the fact that we provide a uniquely flexible stipend for personal or professional development. And our employees’ passion for the organization shone strongly in the survey results.

According to Best Companies Group president Peter Burke, while the national average for employee engagement is around 33%, the New York survey results showed that 92% of employees at winning companies felt engaged, connected and willing to go above and beyond for the company, their managers and the clients.

Marcia Williams, a Common Ground employee since 1999, explained that employees are proud to be a part of Common Ground’s mission to help people facing homelessness. “Whether you’re talking about staff, tenants, or clients, Common Ground helps people help themselves.”

Executive Director Brenda E. Rosen said, “Passionate employees are our most valuable resource and we do whatever we can to support them. We are so thrilled to be recognized for that.”
