Common Ground partnered with The Actors Fund in 1996 to create this shared housing community in Midtown Manhattan. The 30-story building provides 178 units of supportive housing to special low-income groups including seniors, working professionals and people living with HIV/AIDS. Unlike other Common Ground residences, at the Friedman, two to three tenants share a single apartment with private bedrooms and a common living room and kitchen. All apartments are equipped with a dishwasher and washer/dryer.
Common Ground Management as property manager operates the building, providing maintenance, security, marketing, intake and administrative services. The Actors Fund offers onsite supportive services for building tenants that include referrals to community resources, entitlement program advocacy, coordination of home care and medical services, and support groups. On-site medical services are available to all residents through the Al Hirschfeld Free Health Clinic.
