Who We Serve

Common Ground prioritizes individuals who historically were perceived as unreachable and “unhouseable”: those who have lived on the streets for years, who have the most debilitating mental and physical health conditions, and/or who have suffered significant adversity that contributed to their homelessness. Common Ground also strives to prevent new instances of homelessness by providing affordable housing to working New Yorkers who earn significantly less than the Area Median Income, who are often living paycheck to paycheck.
